System Engineer Electrical Systems

As part of Leonardo, Kopter currently develops the AW09, a next generation single-engine helicopter that offers the largest cabin and cargo hold in its category, increased modularity and modern electronic systems. The AW09 delivers latest safety standards as well as more performance and comfort at low operating costs.
Kopter is set to become Leonardo’s Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies, contributing to the development of hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. Kopter’s 320 talented team members are primarily based in Switzerland, near Zurich and in Mollis (Canton of Glarus).


Your responsibilities
► Develop the electrical system LRUs assigned to them
► Take part to the architectural design of the Aircraft Electrical System
► Manage suppliers from a technical point of view
► Witness qualification testing at the supplier site and perform aircraft ground testing
► Support the flight test team to prepare Electrical System dedicated flight tests

Tasks:
► Write TRDs (Technical Requirement Document) for Kopter custom designed Electrical System LRUs
► Support Stakeholders, i.e. Airworthiness, Safety, Human Factors, Ground & Flight Testing, etc
► Support and organize technical meetings (System Requirement Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, etc.) as required
► Perform Electrical Load Analysis of the different aircraft configurations
► Perform systems bench testing in-house or at the supplier

Your qualifications & experience
► University Degree or equivalent in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering
► 2 to 5 years of experience in the design of Electrical Power Generating and Distribution Systems for fixed/rotary wings aircraft or equivalent
► Experience in electrical systems development and integration
► Knowledge of aircraft electrical generation and distribution systems
► Familiarity with:
- EASA and/or FAA certification requirements
- Environmental qualification DO-160 an asset
- Airborne software and hardware development DO-178 and DO-254 an asset
